1. Flushing stops when handle released with cistern lid removed but carries on flushing the full cistern when cistern lid is in place.
This will probably be due to the lip on the underside of the cistern resting on and pushing the green turnbuckle down so that the air valve is always closed. Remedy this by removing the turnbuckle and re fit it upside-down on the underside of the rotor quadrant, trapping the connector line between the two.

2. I cannot undo the screw to release the plastic arm on the flush handle spindle.
You could saw it off and get a new one or you can soften the adaptor in hot water to make it more flexible and fold it around the spindle. If it breaks just use a bit of tape to hold it together while you fold the spindle clamp around it.

3. The square spindle adaptor appears to be too slack on my spindle.
It may not be obvious but the square adaptor fits two sizes, 8 and 9mm square. The four notched corners midway along the flats inside the adaptor make the 8mm square. I will be using two separate adaptors when I next retool to avoid any confusion this may have caused.

4. My flush handle spindle is an oddball size. Neither of the adaptors will fit.
The easiest solution is to buy and fit a replacement handle, they cost around £3 from the DIY sheds.

5. There is no room on the spindle to fit the spindle clamp.
If there is 20mm of spindle protruding beyond the spindle arm, you can fit the spindle clamp here. In which case fit the baseplate turned round through 180 degrees so that the rotor is at the back of the siphon. Alternatively, saw off 20mm from the plastic cistern sleeve through which the spindle passes. This procedure is necessary in any event for boxed in cisterns where extended spindle lengths are used.

6. Gives a full flush all the time.
This will be due to the air valve being closed all the time because the connector line is too tight. Cure it by slackening the connector line a notch at a time at the spindle end until releasing the handle allows the seal to lift to open the air valve and stop the flush.

7. Will not flush when handle held down.

Assuming the siphon is in good working order to start with, this is due to air leaking into the siphon, either at the seal or under the gasket. Check that the seal is going down fully when the handle is pressed. If it is not, tighten up the connector line a notch at a time at the spindle end until it is. If it still will not flush tighten up the four fasteners until a good seal is obtained at the gasket.

8. When I release my flush handle it only comes up after the cistern is empty.
This is due to either a weak or broken return spring in your siphon chamber or the use of a lead weight instead of a return spring. All you have to do is lift the flush handle when you want to stop the flush.
